Member for Stuart, Dan van Holst Pellekaan MP, is encouraging 12-15 year olds to apply for YMCA SA Junior Parliament.
Junior Parliament will run in the October school holidays and gives young people the opportunity to learn about parliament, meet new friends and develop their leadership skills.
This apolitical program will give participants the chance to learn about democracy, parliament, team building, public speaking and leadership.
“Junior Parliament gives young people the opportunity to have their say on issues they care about and it would be wonderful to have participants from the electorate of Stuart take part,” Mr van Holst Pellekaan said.
The program involves a three-day/two-night camp and it is open to anyone in South Australia aged 12-15.
It will be held from 9-11 October 2017, which includes a day in Parliament House debating the Bills the Junior Parliamentarians have written. There is a participant fee of $220 which covers meals, accommodation and transport while on camp.
Application close 24 September with application forms available at www.sa.ymca.org.au
