I acknowledge the comments and the contribution from the shadow minister. This is a pretty straightforward bill. It is an amalgamation of a lot of small pieces, each one being fairly separate, so it is not trying to be anything more complicated than exactly what is on the paper in front of us.

Over recent years, it has become evident the energy sector is constantly evolving. It is essential the regulatory framework that supports Australia's energy market can adapt and respond to technological advancements to operate in the long-term interests of consumers.

Question regarding the adoption of electric vehicles in South Australia

We know the federal Liberal Party, the federal Labor Party, the Climate Council, the Clean Energy Council and many others support the Marshall Liberal government's policy of interconnection with New South Wales.

The Essential Services Commission of South Australia's energy retail price offers comparison report, released in August, shows that the average South Australian residential market offer for electricity went down by $96 in 2019-20, continuing a downward trend since the election of the Marshall Liberal government.
